6 Travel Hacks to Save Your Wallet
It’s not the holiday season but it’s the perfect time to plan a trip anywhere. The thing is a lot of us are not so into the idea of traveling concerning the current financial status. But that’s why we’re here to help travel on a budget!
1. Plan early
Early bird gets the worm and early planners get the best ticket prices. Book your travel tickets and accommodations way ahead of your trip. I hope this is a well-known trick that the closer the booking date to the travel date, the pricier the ticket!
2. Off-season travels
I get it, you want to bridge the Eid holiday with 10 days of PTO so you can get the most out of it. But if you do so just know that everyone will be doing the same. So it’s better to plan your trip during the off-season. Not only would it be way cheaper but it will also be less crowded. That means not during Eid, Christmas, extended national holidays, or mid-year vacations. I think we’ve all seen that shocking Dahab video, you wouldn’t find peace and quiet during peak season!
3. Experience > accommodations
Normally, I’d choose luxury over experience but in this economy, things gotta change. Don’t aim for expensive accommodations because let’s face it, you’ll be spending most of the time outside of your hostel or Airbnb. So, choose a decent place but not one that will take over your whole budget!
4. Public transportation
Most countries have a decent public transportation system. Hopefully, nothing beats the traffic in Cairo, so I think as an Egyptian, you can handle any horrible traffic or weird modes of transportation. Also, look if you can get a metro/bus card beforehand, that would make moving around the city much easier for you!
5. Be your own chef
Of course, part of traveling is indulging in other countries’ cultures, especially food. But you can take a few days off and use a stove or an oven! You don’t want to end up spending a huge amount just on food that you didn’t even eat all of! Trust me on this one! *Cries in
6. Free activities
That could be taking a hike, exploring museums and art galleries, strolling down parks, going to beaches, or visiting popular scenic landscapes. Ask the locals, you will find many free and enjoyable things to fill your time!
